On Thursday 24th April, our school came alive with creativity and excitement as students across all year groups celebrated World Book Day 2025.
In preparation for the day, each year group was assigned a novel to explore:
Year 7: Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll
Year 8: Goodnight Mister Tom by Michelle Magorian
Year 9: Life of Pi by Yann Martel
Year 10: IT by Stephen King
Having read their books in advance, students immersed themselves in a variety of fun and engaging activities. These included themed display boards, recreating book covers, creative writing tasks, and even a book swap to share their love of reading with one another.
A highlight of the day was the public speaking activity, where students confidently delivered speeches about their favourite parts of the stories. Their reflections showcased not only a deep understanding of the books but also an appreciation for the power of storytelling.
The celebrations concluded with a whole-school assembly, where students’ work was shared and celebrated. The day was a resounding success—filled with imagination, discovery, and a renewed enthusiasm for reading.
World Book Day 2025 reminded us all that books are more than just stories—they are gateways to new ideas, characters, and worlds waiting to be explored.
